SiRFstarIII™ 20-channel GPS SMD compact module/receiver is SBAS (WAAS/EGNOS) enabled and has enhanced power saving modes.

This module is programmed to output NMEA, 57600 baud, GGA messages.

The ISM300F2-C5-V0001 module uses a single UART firmware build which defaults to:  

• NMEA-0183 at 57600 baud on port A
• $GPGGA message only by default
• SBAS turned on by default  

This build reduces software development costs by eliminating the need to parse more then one message type. It also permits lower power consumption when an NMEA message is desired for low power applications. By outputting at a higher baud rate and outputting only the single message, the module can be put back into low power mode faster.

Single UART firmware builds allow the user to switch from the default protocol (NMEA in this case) to the alternate protocol (SiRF Binary) by issuing a $PSRF100 command.

Extremely compact (18mm X 18mm x 3mm), the ISM300F2 is 30% lower power than the ISM300F1.
